1.) Why did you start creating your own jewelry?

I started creating my own jewelry because I am an accessory junky. I love jewelry! But, the most important reason I created my own line of jewelry was for styling. I am a wardrobe stylist. I do a lot of editorial work, and I constantly have numerous concepts in my head of looks that I want to put together. The trouble was that there was void in the market of pieces I wanted to pull to bring my vision to fruition. So, necessity met creativity and I started to create what was in my head.

2.) Your jewelry line consists of bold statement pieces, what’s your inspiration?

My inspiration- I appreciate vintage cocktail jewelry. I love how costume jewelry of eras past were made (people got quality when they spent their money). To add to this, if it’s huge, larger-than-life, and it makes a statement, I must have it. I imagine others feel the same way I do, so I create pieces to satisfy the need. I like to think that I have an old soul with a current eye. With all that said, check the equation — Vintage + Statement + Modern = Stacy Armand Jewelry. Lux. Call me the Fashion Mathematician. LOL.

3.) How has being a wardrobe stylist helped you in the design process of your jewelry line?

Styling to me is art, and that is how I like to approach it. The mood of a lot of my work is dark & somber with a mysterious, edgy feel; blending subtle nuances with the pronounced. If it creates bold and over-exaggerated shapes, while at the same time showcasing clean lines, I am all about it. I love volume. So, when my mind conceives its concepts for my jewelry, it’s only fitting that the same qualities apply. I feel that my jewelry is an excuse for overtly extroverted, unique personalities to shine, or an opportunity for the subdued introvert to let loose their inner wild child.

4.) How has your Haitian descent influenced your collection?

Of course!!! My Haitian decent definitely has an influence on my jewelry. In my culture, we take pride in our appearance (as I am sure is true for many cultures – not to offend). How we dress, to how we carry ourselves — every social event is like The Grand Ballroom to us! At least I know this is true for me and how I grew up. I can be going to the grocery store or a simple low key movie, but I make it my business to “show up and show out” — you never know what opportunities lie around the corner. First impressions are everlasting (wink, wink). With this is mind, how could my jewelry fade into the background?

5.) Where would you like to see Stacy Armand Jewelry in the next 5 years?

In the next five years I see “Stacy Armand Jewelry” featured in all of the major fashion mags, and online sites. I see my line in specialty boutiques. I also would love to partner up with charities to give back to worthy causes in Haiti. I want my jewelry to make a difference as well enhance ones appearance. Last but not least, I cant forget the celebs like Gwen Stephanie, MIA, Santogold, Kelis, Pink, Lady Gaga, Keri Hilson, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Ciara, Rihanna & Katy Perry (just to name a few). In 5 years, mark my words, they all will be wearing “Stacy Armand Jewelry.”
